Terms of Use
Effective date: [[ SET LEGAL_EFFECTIVE_DATE ]]
These terms apply to ActorBuddy (“the Service”), operated by [[ SET LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME ]]. By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
This page is not finished.
The following values are unset and appear as placeholders below: LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME, LEGAL_JURISDICTION, LEGAL_EFFECTIVE_DATE. Set them as environment variables (see docs/SETUP-CHECKLIST.md) and have a lawyer review this text before relying on it.
1. What this service is
The Service is an independent directory. It indexes factual details about acting workshops that third-party companies publish on their own public websites, and links you back to those companies so you can read the full listing and register with them directly.
We are not a partner, reseller, agent, affiliate, or representative of any listed provider, and we do not act on their behalf.
2. We do not operate the workshops
Every workshop listed is operated, staffed, scheduled, priced, and cancelled by the third-party provider named on the listing — not by us. We have no involvement in:
- whether a workshop takes place, is rescheduled, or is cancelled
- who teaches or attends it, and what happens during it
- registration, payment, refunds, credits, or cancellation policies
- any agreement you enter into with a provider
Registration and payment happen entirely on the provider's own website. We do not take payment for third-party workshops and we do not operate a checkout for them.
3. No guarantee of accuracy or availability
Listings are collected automatically from public pages and may be incomplete, out of date, mis-parsed, or wrong. Dates, times, time zones, formats, prices, locations, and availability change without notice, and a workshop may be full or cancelled before our records catch up.
You must confirm every detail on the provider's own website before registering, paying, or travelling. Do not rely on this Service as your only source.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.
4. Provider names and trademarks
Company names, workshop names, casting director names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. They are used here for identification and reference only — nominative use — to tell you whose workshop a listing describes. Their use does not imply affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement in either direction.
We do not reproduce provider logos, images, photographs, biographies, promotional copy, or class descriptions. If you believe we have, see our copyright page.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-download, resell, or redistribute the directory
- use the Service to send unsolicited messages to providers or casting professionals
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure
- interfere with the Service's operation, including by automated request flooding
- submit false, abusive, or deliberately misleading listing reports
- use the Service in a way that misrepresents your relationship with a provider or with us
6. Sources may change or be removed
We may add, disable, or permanently remove any source at any time and for any reason — including at a provider's request, on our own initiative, or because a source becomes impractical or inappropriate to index. A provider may ask to be removed at any time; see information for providers.
7. Third-party links
The Service links to third-party websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, policies, availability, or practices. Your use of a provider's website is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, [[ SET LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME ]] is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on information in the directory — including missed, cancelled, rescheduled, or misdescribed workshops, or any dispute between you and a provider.
[[ REVIEW: your lawyer may want a liability cap, an indemnity clause, and a disclaimer of implied warranties written to your jurisdiction. This paragraph is a placeholder. ]]
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [[ SET LEGAL_JURISDICTION ]], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do. Questions: hello@actorbuddy.com or via the contact page.
